  1. CT thorax: Large bilateral pleural effusions with pericardial effusion in a patient with metastatic nasopharyngeal cancer.

General conditions


  • Cough                        •   Haemoptysis (coughing of blood) 
  • Breathlessness       •  Chest pain
  • Wheeze                   •    Intensive care related conditions
  • Snoring                    •    Abnormal chest x-ray or CT scan of lung




Specific conditions


  • Airways: allergic rhinitis, asthma, bronchitis, bronchiectasis, bronchiolitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Abnormal lung CXR or CT thorax, abnormal lung function test, lung cancer screening
  • Conditions requiring intensive care
  • Lung parenchyma: non-infectious pneumonia, acute lung injury of any cause, interstitial lung disease including pulmonary fibrosis. drug-induced lung injury, pulmonary embolism
  • Lung nodules: lung cancer, lung nodules
  • Pleural: pleural effusion, pneumothorax, mesothelioma
  • Respiratory infections: Upper respiratory tract infection, 
    pneumonia, lung abscess, tuberculosis (TB), COVID-19
  • Restrictive lung disease 
  • Snoring, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA)
  • Smoking cessation
